Have you experienced these fun spherical pieces that foams or fizzes when placed in water? They are unreactive when dry but once dissolved in water they produce fizzing for several minutes. Called bath bombs, these are made with a weak acid and a bicarbonate base. The effervescence provides a feeling similar to taking a bath in champagne. Some bath bombs also add scent and color to the bathwater.
Some prefer to make their own bath bomb because it is easy to make. They can also customize them according to their personal taste. Simply mix citric acid, cornstarch and baking soda in one bowl. In another bowl mix vegetable oil, fragrance and coloring. Mix the dry with the wet ingredients. Mix well and form into 1″ balls. Let dry for a day or two. Add to your bath and enjoy!
