How would you like a water treatment system in your home that will kill the majority of bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganism? How would you like that all these are possible on the same amount of energy as a 60 watt light bulb? An ultraviolet water treatment system will do that for you. Ultraviolet purification systems use a UV light lamp which is enclosed in a protective transparent sleeve. The lamp is mounted such that water passing through a flow chamber is exposed to UV light rays. This scrambles the DNA structure of harmful organism and renders them dead.
Ultraviolet lamps effectively destroy micro-organisms that pass by the bulb. It will help prevent disease and illness. But UV lamps are not effective on some particulates, allergens, for example. It has also no effect on odors, cigarette smoke, for example. UV lamps are therefore most effective when used in conjunction with HEPA filters and air ionizers.
