It cannot be called alternative, complementary or integrative medicine. Holistic healing starts from the experience of physical discomfort and take a holistic approach when seeking treatment. It involves evaluating and nurturing all aspects of the body to help the physical body. It does not involve curing a symptom or set of symptoms. Rather, it is a journey, the objective of which is to finds ways of living better and healthier.
Its definition does not point to just one method of holistic healing. It can be any method or combination of methods that is perceived to provide the patient with faster and more effective healing. Examples of holistic healing methods are herbology and acupuncture. Both have been accepted in Asian countries since way back, but are only just now being introduced in Western countries. Patients are educating themselves and asking questions from Western doctors who are pushed to take a look at these alternative methods for holistic healing.
