Knee braces can be a big help for people with knee osteoarthritis. A well designed knee brace can help the patient go about his daily activities on his own. It gives the patient some kind of independence. This is necessary for the arthritic patient because movement can actually stimulate growth of cartilage cells. It is also a way that helps control his weight let alone do some simple exercises.
There are different kinds of knee braces. Offloading braces are so called because they claim to offload the affected joint. It works by redistributing body weight thus eliminating pain. Magnetic knee braces provide support while also providing magnetic therapy. Magnetic therapy is based on the theory that when delivered directly to the painful part, it can stimulate healing. Thus a magnetic knee brace is wrapped around the knee to provide support while the magnets provide continuous magnetic therapy.
