There are various reasons why some people develop diabetes. These reasons are considered risk factors that individuals must try to overcome if they are to avoid getting the disease. Learn what causes diabetes so you can better arm yourself with the knowledge how to keep away from it:
~Diet – eating too much of carbohydrates, fats and proteins prevents the pancreas from carrying out its function to secrete insulin. Stop the habit of overeating and eat a healthy diet instead. ~Obesity – excess body weight compared to one’s height is a predisposing factor for diabetes mellitus. Lose weight because even a small decrease in weight will help your medicines work more effectively. ~Virus infections – certain viruses may infect the pancreas and impair the release of insulin and increase blood sugar levels. Do not overtire your body such that it gets too vulnerable for diseases. But also do physical work and not spend long hours doing nothing as lesser active persons are also at risk for developing diabetes. ~Age- as one grows older you increase your chances of developing diabetes. Continue to be active and don’t gain too much weight.
