When you get to this age, regular checkups become even more necessary. Surveys show that chronic diseases such as hypertension, cataracts, heart disease, ulcers or gastric diseases and arthritis are common for this age group. These diseases tend to be closely related to personal lifestyle and health habits. We are also aware of more serious diseases such as prostate cancer and Alzheimer. While causes are still unclear, a regular checkup can help lessen the suffering with early intervention.

Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the prostate gland in the male reproductive system. The common symptoms are painful, difficult urination, problems during sexual intercourse and erectile dysfunction. It is one of the cancers that take a long time to develop but the danger is if the cancer cells spread from the prostate to other parts of the body. A regular checkup that includes examination of PSA levels will point to the presence of the cancer even before symptoms manifest themselves. Early detection will lead to a higher chance of being cured.
