Free radicals, produced by the body cells’ use of oxygen, can be harmful to the body. This is the reason why antioxidant is vital in our health. It acts as a “free radical scavenger” that prevents and repairs damage done to our body. This has been known to delay certain signs of aging and prevents the growth of cancer cells. It is also responsible for boosting the body’s immune system.
There are three powerful antioxidants that our body needs:
~Lycopene – gives reddish color to fruits and vegetables; could prevent atherosclerosis, cancer and heart disease; found in tomatoes
~Resveratrol – can be found in mulberries and skin of red grapes; decreases risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer
~Coenzyme Q10 – has anti-aging properties and effectively neutralizes free radicals
