People with high blood pressure or hypertension have an increased chance of having a heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, or stroke. In the US, the number one killer is heart disease while stroke is the third common cause of death. This why hypertension is really dangerous because it often has no signs or symptoms.
Have your blood pressure checked regularly. If it is high, take steps on how to lower high blood pressure. If it is normal, learn how to keep it from going up. Although variations in BP are normal, people with hypertension have Bp that remains up all or most of the time: more than 140/90. If not controlled, it can lead to serious medical problems.
