It is common knowledge that good nutrition is important for everyone. Children need it to grow and develop. Older people need it to maintain their health, be able to work productively and feel their best. Everybody needs the right amount of calories and nutrients. But unless you are a nutritionist, you will not know just how many carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals your body needs.
This is where nutrition information comes in handy. It starts with knowing how to read labels in the food that you buy. The nutrition fact that is required to be included in food packaging provides loads of information. It tells you what each serving size provides in terms of calories and where it is coming from. It tells you how much carbohydrates, protein and vitamins you are getting from each serving of the food you just picked up from the grocery shelf.
