Because of its symptoms that are similar to that of a heart attack people suffering from panic attacks are often times brought to an emergency room. The result is increased anxiety. But panic attacks are not physical conditions or mental disorders. They are actually psychological disorders.
The way to prevent panic attacks is to go for psychotherapeutic help. They are usually subjected to intensive tests to rule out other conditions. Depending on the doctor’s diagnosis, the person can undergo pharmacotherapeutic options that could include taking of anxiolytic drugs. The disorder is generally described as ‘nothing serious’ because it is not organ threatening. But panic attacks should be treated because it is causing discomfort and anxiety to those who have it.
