Cold weather can cause or worsen skin dryness. Manage dry skin by avoiding the use of commercial creams and lotions that contain mineral oils and other petroleum products. Instead, go for creams and other skin-care products based on natural hypoallergenic ingredients. Some of the best tips to dry skin care include:
~Moisturizing correctly – Immediately apply a moisturizer to your entire body after taking a shower or bath.
~Avoiding tap water – Use cold mineral water for washing and cleaning your face. Or, use an alcohol-free cleaning lotion, toner or cosmetic milk made of natural ingredients
~Cutting back on shower time – Dermatologists recommend people with dry skin to spend no more than 3 minutes a day in water and use only the mildest soap available.
~Avoiding scratching – Dry skin is prone to eczema and other uncomfortable skin conditions so do your best not to scratch itchy skin. Augment your diet with essential oils contained in cod liver oil, fresh cold-water fish, eggs, and raw organic butter.
