Today’s kids are either glued to their video games or out playing in the park. Despite all these hi-tech gadgets at home most parents would still like to see their kids running around or engaged in outdoor activities. For some countries, staying outdoors all day is no big deal. For people who live in tropical countries or areas, there is always the risk of bug and insect bites. This is why in some countries, bug repellent is widely used.
The most common forms of bug repellent are lotions, creams and liquid spray. They are applied to the skin to fend off insects. Lately however Deet, an ingredient commonly used in bug repellent products has been in the news. Scientists have voiced their concerns about insect repellents that contain Deet after seeing the chemical’s lethal effects in mammals. Other scientists however overruled their concerns claiming that deet posed no risk if used properly.
