handmade soap

The rage nowadays is to go all-natural. This goes for the products that we use on our bodies, from lotions to soaps. They say the soaps we actually use are full of chemicals and synthetics that are too harsh for our skin. After learning this information I began my quest to learn how to make an all-natural handmade soap which I can use everyday.
I purchased the necessary ingredients. Most of them were found in my kitchen, which was great news. As per the instruction, I mixed lye with water and continued mixing until I produced a smooth mixture. In a separate pot, I melted the coconut oil and Crisco together. When they cooled, I added them to the water and lye mixture. I then added a few drops of lavender fragrance and allowed the mixture to set. The procedure ending up taking longer than I thought it would. Next time I will just buy a ready-made soap from the drug store.
