When you suffer from pain relating to the muscle it can be uncomfortable at the very least; at worst, it can be debilitating. Aside from pain, these conditions can bring about stiffness and other forms of discomfort. Muscle relaxants are drugs that help alleviate these painful conditions. This medication works by relaxing the muscles. It works by providing what is called symptomatic relief.
While they do not heal the injury, a muscle relaxant will provide relief which is good enough for the patient. What they may not realize is that muscle relaxants can bring side effects which may vary from person to person. The most common side effect of muscle relaxants is drowsiness. Persons doing critical physical activity in their jobs or at home should not take this medication arbitrarily. Other reported side effects are blurred vision, clumsiness, dizziness and lightheadedness. These symptoms usually go away without treatment. The important thing is that the person suffering from these symptoms should keep from involving himself in activities that require alertness such as driving.
