White tea is not as common as the other types of tea. Just like other teas it comes from the camellia sinensis plant whose leaves are picked and harvested before they are fully opened. At this point the buds are still covered by fine white hair. This is how it got its name. Indian white tea is scarcer and more expensive that the other kinds of tea.
