Water sterilization using ultra violet is the most effective way of eliminating all types of microorganisms. Ultraviolet water sterilizers contain a lamp producing UV radiation that is emitted through clear, pre-filtered and particle free water. It is extremely effective in killing and eliminating bacteria, yeast, viruses, molds and other harmful organisms. It is important that water that is run through an UV sterilizer has been filtered. This is because if sub-micron particles remain in the water, the UV light may not come in contact with the organism as the organism could be hiding behind the particle.
There are systems that are ideal for small point of use applications such as an add-on to a residential filtration system. High output is a desirable feature. Compact systems include high flow housings with a lamp life counter. They are easy to install with low maintenance filter and lamp replacements. There are higher capacity systems that can be used for the whole house.
