We can only have a sustainable clean water supply if we work on conserving it. Water purification is one thing; conserving its supply is another. Water conservation will not require gadgets the way water purification would. Your home can be transformed into a hub for conserving water by implementing easy ways to save water, money and energy. Often times, it is just a matter of changing our habits.
Some homes have cisterns that collect rainwater that can be used for flushing and watering plants. Not all homes can have this, but surely, you can check leaks in your toilet tank and turn off water while shaving, washing or brushing your teeth. Don’t take long showers; turn off the water while you are soaping up and turn it on again for rinsing. Water your plants only when needed and early in the morning. Evaporation will not be as much as when the sun is up. If we pay more attention to how we use water, we can be sure of an adequate supply in our lifetime.
