Fluoride water filters

In spite of controversy about its safety, the addition of fluoride in drinking water is still in practice. Fluoridated water operates on tooth surfaces: in the mouth it creates low levels of fluoride in the saliva which reduces the rate at which tooth enamel de-mineralizes and increases the rate at which it re-mineralizes in the early stages of cavities. In this way it prevents cavities. Unfortunately, while it strengthens dental enamel, it also aggravates the interface between gums and teeth. This can lead to more serious disorders such as gingivitis or periodontitis.
Fluoride water filters prevent these diseases of the gums. Others will even go to the extent of saying that fluoride might be a carcinogen and mutagen. This can likewise be prevented by installing fluoride water filters. There are different ways of removing fluoride from drinking water. This is possible through reverse osmosis filtration, activated alumina de-fluoridation or through the process of distillation.
