I think the most dangerous thing to do is to try and lose a lot of weight over a very short period of time. We have always been advised that natural weight loss is a combination of exercise and food intake. It will involve a change in a person’s lifestyle. As far as diets go, cutting calories and fat intake means eating more vegetables, fruits and grain products. Eat less sugary foods and avoid too much alcohol. In other words, it is the kind of food that you eat and the amount in which you take them.
Exercise is also a major part of losing weight. Again, it is a good idea to check with your doctor before starting your exercise program. Some simple tips when doing it on your own includes:
~Starting off gently, and working within your comfort zone
~Increase your effort gradually over several weeks.
~Maintain regular breathing throughout the exercises, try not to hold your breath – your muscles need oxygen!
~Do not undertake any exercise if you are in pain or feeling unwell. If you feel faint, dizzy or unwell while exercising stop immediately
